A stroll through the French Quarter
The heart of New Orleans is still alive, populated with more drunken tourists than you can shake a stick at, although I can't really compare it with what it was like before. There are several places that have closed down, and many beautiful old buildings for sale.

New Orleans has to be one of my favorite cities -- perhaps in place number one, as I remember it. Pre-katrina.
Seeing your photos makes me want to go running back to eat at my favorite bistros and support the city. I really want it to be rebuilt, and in the process, I don't want it Disney-fied.
I probably should have seen New Orleans when I was there 3 years ago. Now I am regretting it!

Having been to New Orleans on several occasions. I was struck be the appearence in your photos. Maybe the lack of crowds.

These pictures were taken pretty early in the evening - the quarter became much busier as the night went on. But still, it does seem kind of empty given that there is a giant basketball tournament in town now. I'm expecting to see bigger crowds this weekend, especially with St. Patrick's Day.
